DOCTOR WHO: ANIME STYLE!

Back at the TARDIS controls: Jon Pertwee as DOCTOR WHO. Image: OtaKing/BBC.
This was made a few years back but I hadn't seen it before and, thanks to the BLASTR website's recent promotion, I've now discovered it and think it's absolutely superb. Its a new classic DOCTOR WHO adventure for Jon Pertwee's flamboyant action-hero incarnation, done in the best Japanese anime tradition. It's got more crash-bang excitement and visual style than anything seen in several seasons of modern live-action WHO series (and features great use of the series classic villains, like The Master, the Cybermen and the Daleks, as well as heroes like Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart). If the late, great Pertwee were still with us I think he would have loved seeing himself in this new style of imagineering.

Current series guru Steven Moffat and his team at the BBC should take note of this and contact the talented film-maker, Paul Johnson, for some officially licensed animated series work. I think it would be a worthy investment on their part and be a huge hit with WHO fans worldwide!
