She may have originally started out as a raw rookie police recruit to the specialist crime fighting HAWAII FIVE-O team led by Steve McGarrett, but native islander Kono Kalakaua, as played by the lovely American/Canadian actress Grace Park (prior known for her fine work as shuttle pilot/Cylon copy Sharon Valeri in the hugely successful re-imagined BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, and a memorable guest role in HUMAN TARGET's first season), soon made a quick impression on the squad with her natural detective skills, honed instincts and physical prowess (just check out the series title sequence every week where she decks that guy who was holding her hostage. Ouch!) - oh, and as well as looking fabulous in a bikini, she's also a heck of a surf boarder, too!
Working alongside her cousin, Detective Chin Ho Kelly (as played by ex-LOSTer Daniel Dae Kim), Kono shows us that, in TV land, and totally unlike many real life situations, family members can actually get along together and work as part of a team!
