WITH BOW, SWORD AND ATTITUDE: "ROBIN OF SHERWOOD" RETURNS!

Defenders of Sherwood! Robin Hood and his band of heroes return. Image: NETWORK DVD.

Out now from NETWORK DVD in both pristine re-mastered Blu-ray format and DVD release is the Jason Connery era of ROBIN OF SHERWOOD, one of ITV's greatest family series triumphs of the eighties-beautifully made, full of atmosphere and style, with strong scripting from the likes of creator Richard Carpenter and Anthony Horowitz (now a famous TV writer and novelist) and terrific music from Irish group CLANNAD. Taking over from the original series Robin, Michael Praed, was never going to be easy, but Jason Connery does a solid job as the new "Hooded Man", alongside the excellent core team of Merry Men from seasons one and two, including the lovely Judi Trott as his beloved Marion, Clive Owen as Little John, and, of course, the unforgettable Ray Winstone as the thuggishly brave but decent hearted Will Scarlet, all of whom take on the slimy Sheriff of Nottingham (the excellent Nickolas Grace) and his threatening Guy of Gisburne (played with splendid relish by the late Robert Addie). Great guests enjoying themselves for the final season would include Lewis Collins, Martin Shaw, George Baker, Oliver Cotton, Ian Ogilvy, Richard O'Brien and Jeremy Bulloch.

Containing lots of special features, as well as great cast and crew interviews from previous releases, this definitive release has a sneak peek via this NETWORK DVD TRAILER: Robin of Sherwood: Jason Connery - YouTube
