KOOL TV BABE OF THE WEEK: "NIKITA"s LYNDSY FONSECA

Hit-girl! A perfect wordage for both popular actress Lyndsy Fonseca and her character, Alex, in the re-imagined NIKITA. Image: ULIKE.
Combining vulnerable charm with kick-ass heroics, young film and TV actress Lyndsy Fonseca, co-star of the hit CW action series NIKITA, alongside the equally lovely Maggie Q in the title role, has come a long way since her early guest star roles in hit shows like MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE and NYPD BLUE, and is winning a whole heap of worldwide admirers as elite assassin Alex, previously the young daughter of a murdered Russian businessman, sold into sex slavery and drug addiction and rescued by heroic femme fatale on the loose Nikita-to be used as a willing pawn to destroy the corruption of the fearsome Division, as led by its clever and creepy boss Percy (the always reliably good Xander Berkeley). Feared and untrusted by her young teammates at the secret agency, and constantly scrutinised by her bosses, Alex, whether handling the highest of glamour and stiletto heels or using the latest Glock machine gun, is using her abilities-given to her by the best and the brightest- for a personal agenda she hopes will not only help her through, and overcome, her tragic dark past but will also give her friend Nikita a similar redemption for her past life of violence and betrayal. Acting like the daughter she never had, Nikita is most protective of her young cub/kinswoman, with the duo creating for themselves their own unique emotional safeguards, humanity and conscience keeping for each other against the terrible lifestyle of so far seemingly unending violence and revenge they have to endure in order for good to win the day...

With innocence and sex appeal in equal abundance, Fonseca, beyond TV success covering both comedy (HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES) and action (NIKITA), has a varied film career that also continues to move apace, what with previous roles in the comedy hit HOT TUB TIME MACHINE (alongside John Cusack), and cult film-maker John Carpenter's generally well received horror thriller THE WARD, as well as possibly resuming her role as the spirited girlfriend, Katie, to likable lead Aaron Johnson in the sequel to the cult graphic novel adaptation hit KICK ASS, which, from a new script by Matthew Vaughn, may go before the cameras in the not too distant future...

The first season of NIKITA continues to screen new episodes exclusively in the UK on SKY LIVING HD.
