LETHAL WEAPON! 'NIKITA' RETURNS...

Fashion killer! Maggie Q is beautiful and deadly in NIKITA.  Images: CW channel/WARNER BROTHERS
Getting the chance to flex her trigger finger muscles once again in her war against the evil agency known as Division, who originally turned into a lethal assassin, led by the ruthless Percy (the always seedily nasty Xander Berkeley), that top heroine, the sleekly beautiful but deadly Nikita (as played by the delicious Maggie Q) returns to UK TV tonight on the SKY LIVING and HD channels for the second season premiere. Last time, Nikita was finally reunited with her lover, Michael (the cool action hero caught in middle of all this crisis, played by Shane West), once assigned to track down and kill her, and now, realising he had been equally betrayed- his family cold-bloodedly executed on the orders of his own people- joining forces alongside her in their mission of revenge and restoring order to the intelligence services protecting the world and American soil. Searching for the mysterious black boxes and their custodians that contain vital information that will expose the company, of which one is already in their possession, they now have a new enemy dispatched against them, Nikita's once protege in revenge, Alex (Lyndsy Fonseca), who, feeling betrayed by her once friend due to the secrets of her past having been kept from her, is now seemingly determined to regain her once Russian business empire heritage and join forces with both Division, and the dangerous Black Ops fraction of American Intelligence behind it: Oversight, to seek and destroy Nikita whatever the cost! Friends now enemies, with each knowing how the other will think and fight, they're the perfect opponents in this game of power, subterfuge and intrigue, where not everything or everyone is what it seems. To nick a catchphrase from another popular series, "When they met, it was murder!"
New enemy: Alex (Lyndsy Fonseca) is hot on the trail of Nikita.
The Season One cast (including Shane West as Michael and Melinda Clarke as Amanda) return for Year Two.

The dramatic fireworks look set to be taken up a satisfying notch in this year's 23 episode run of viewer accessible exploits (including a flashback to Nikita's deeply troubled pre-agency past and a more at large Percy out for payback against Nikita and his new Division/Oversight rivals), whilst the series regular stand-out action sequences and pyrotechnics will surely top or raise the bar higher to whats been done before..

Welcome back, Niki!

REVENGE RENEWED - "NIKITA" SEASON TWO

Red is dead if you're not one of NIKITA's friends! Images: THE CW CHANNEL.

At the end of its premiere year of action and adventure, the producers of the hit series NIKITA, showing on the US's CW channel, threw its audiences a major curve ball in the series plot/format as the finale episode saw the titular pariah assassin (played by Maggie Q) separated from her revenge fuelled protege Alex (Lyndsy Fonseca) -the pair now at differing viewpoints and objectives- as she was re-united with her on and off and on again lover Michael (Shane West) in their mission to expose and right the wrongs caused by the evil doings of the powerful Black Ops agency Division, which remained under the leadership of the treacherous and ambitious Percy (Xander Berkeley). Alex, meanwhile, now revealed as the daughter of a Russian oligarch, has gone her own way after learning that Nikita had been involved in the death of her father, and is now determined to take back the dominant business empire he once created. The only way she can do this is, however, is to find herself back in the hot seat as an assassin, this time, working for Division through a select group of CIA power brokers who help fund their rogue dealings. Her first mission: to find and eliminate Nikita!

On the run, Nikita (Maggie Q) and Michael (Shane West) are ready for danger.
Alex (Lyndsy Fonseca) is held hostage by Nikita's ex-partner Kelly (Katheryn Winnick) in the episode Partners.
Division's deadliest operatives want revenge on Nikita and Michael.
Birkhoff (Aaron Stanford) helps Nikita capture Nisha (Rekha Sharma) in Knightfall.
New baddie Sean (Dillon Casey) takes aim in Clawback.
Coming back to UK screens in early 2012 (presumably on SKY LIVING HD once again), the new series of 23 episodes should prove interesting and exciting as the two ex-friends, Nikita and Alex, each aware of the others abilities, partake in some hopefully bad-ass action showdowns involving guest stars the likes of 24's Sarah Clarke (appearing in several big-stakes multi-arc episodes this year), Devon Sawa, V's Rekha Sharma and series new addition Dillon Casey as Alex's new Division overseer, Sean. The production team behind the series successful premiere launch remain pretty much the same this time around, too (including film director McG, UK film/TV visualist Danny Cannon, CSI's Ken Fink and Carlos Coto), and the series will no doubt look as glossy and well made as ever, and additionally promising more back story on the series heroes and villains. Never one to rest on her laurels in the adrenaline stakes, glamorous lead actress and martial arts heroine Maggie Q has been determined to push the stunt work to new heights for this second year, of which a new choreographer and team have come in to assist her fulfil those desires.

KOOL TV BABE OF THE WEEK: "NIKITA"s LYNDSY FONSECA

Hit-girl! A perfect wordage for both popular actress Lyndsy Fonseca and her character, Alex, in the re-imagined NIKITA. Image: ULIKE.
Combining vulnerable charm with kick-ass heroics, young film and TV actress Lyndsy Fonseca, co-star of the hit CW action series NIKITA, alongside the equally lovely Maggie Q in the title role, has come a long way since her early guest star roles in hit shows like MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE and NYPD BLUE, and is winning a whole heap of worldwide admirers as elite assassin Alex, previously the young daughter of a murdered Russian businessman, sold into sex slavery and drug addiction and rescued by heroic femme fatale on the loose Nikita-to be used as a willing pawn to destroy the corruption of the fearsome Division, as led by its clever and creepy boss Percy (the always reliably good Xander Berkeley). Feared and untrusted by her young teammates at the secret agency, and constantly scrutinised by her bosses, Alex, whether handling the highest of glamour and stiletto heels or using the latest Glock machine gun, is using her abilities-given to her by the best and the brightest- for a personal agenda she hopes will not only help her through, and overcome, her tragic dark past but will also give her friend Nikita a similar redemption for her past life of violence and betrayal. Acting like the daughter she never had, Nikita is most protective of her young cub/kinswoman, with the duo creating for themselves their own unique emotional safeguards, humanity and conscience keeping for each other against the terrible lifestyle of so far seemingly unending violence and revenge they have to endure in order for good to win the day...

With innocence and sex appeal in equal abundance, Fonseca, beyond TV success covering both comedy (HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES) and action (NIKITA), has a varied film career that also continues to move apace, what with previous roles in the comedy hit HOT TUB TIME MACHINE (alongside John Cusack), and cult film-maker John Carpenter's generally well received horror thriller THE WARD, as well as possibly resuming her role as the spirited girlfriend, Katie, to likable lead Aaron Johnson in the sequel to the cult graphic novel adaptation hit KICK ASS, which, from a new script by Matthew Vaughn, may go before the cameras in the not too distant future...

The first season of NIKITA continues to screen new episodes exclusively in the UK on SKY LIVING HD.
